Yulia illustrates the Storyberries phonics collection, and her bright, playful style is loved by children everywhere around the world.
She has illustrated our phonics collection including Dad Can Nap, The Big Pink Pig, Did You Ever?, Stop the Spotty Dog, Fluffy Duck in the Tub and Jane and Jake Run a Race. And in case you already think that’s a lot, she’s also shortly to illustrate a new original picture book, Mister Max Manxy, Fantabulous Cat!
So who is the person behind these wonderful, vibrant and playful illustrations?
Yulia says…
I live in Russia, in Siberia. We have fabulous nature and animals.
I have been painting since childhood, it is my favourite thing all my life!
I have higher art education, I have a narrow specialisation – I am a ceramic artist. I made a lot of clay in my student days.
After graduation I worked as a designer at various industries. I worked in a bread factory, I designed packaging and labels, and later in an embroidery factory, I created designs for embroidery. This was a very interesting time!
Later I got married and we had two daughters. This is the most beautiful thing that has happened to me!
Children inspire me to draw children’s illustrations. This is now my main favourite work. I love to draw for children and liven up stories with bright and funny illustrations! I want my children to smile looking at them! I hope you like them too!
