Storyberries publishes original stories and licensed works. Its stories are copyright-protected.

Some of the content created by Book Dash and Storyweaver may be more freely used and adapted. We encourage you to visit their websites if you are interested in sharing their content.

Vintage content is available in the Public Domain and we would encourage you to visit Project Gutenberg if you are interested in sharing vintage content.

The following is a short guide to the permitted ways that you can use stories you find at Storyberries. If in any doubt, please write to us at permissions @ storyberries.com for more information.

1. I would like to share a link to a Storyberries story with my students, on my website, or on an online resource. Can I do this?

Yes! We love link sharing. Encouraging readers to read our stories at Storyberries enables us to continue making new free stories for children. Last year we published forty-two original picture books that would not exist were it not for readers reading stories on our site.  Please feel free to share links to our stories far and wide! The more visitors at Storyberries, the more free books we can make for you!

2. I would like to read a Storyberries story on my Youtube channel, without illustrations. Can I do this?

You may read most stories at Storyberries on your Youtube channel, so long as you do not feature illustrations or copy the text into your video. You are required to credit the author and Storyberries in your show notes, and provide a link back to the story at Storyberries. For more information, see our Youtube videos permissions page, which contains all the details.

The exception to the above is stories authored by Templeton Moss. For permissions relating to his stories, please email the author directly at GalleonsLap4077 @ gmail.com.

3. I would like to read a Storyberries story on my Youtube channel and also use the story’s illustrations in my video. Can I do this?

You are able to use the story illustrations for books by Book Dash and Storyweaver only. These books are published under a Creative Commons license, and you are able to use their stories and illustrations with attribution. For more information, see our Youtube permissions page, which contains all the details.

For all the other stories at Storyberries, you may not put the text or illustrations in your video, as these are copyright-protected and/ or published under license. If in any doubt, please write to us at permissions @ storyberries.com

4. I would like to read your stories on my podcast channel. May I do this?

Yes, you can read most stories at Storyberries on your podcast channel, so long as you credit the author and Storyberries at the beginning and end of the recording, as well as in the show notes, and include a link to the original story at Storyberries.

The exception to the above is stories authored by Templeton Moss. For permissions relating to his stories, please email the author directly at GalleonsLap4077 @ gmail.com.

5. I would like to republish your stories on my website, app or blog. Can I do this?

You are able to republish books by Book Dash and Storyweaver only. These books are published under a Creative Commons license, and you are able to use their stories and illustrations with attribution. We would encourage you to visit their websites if you would like to do this, as they specifically provide files that you can easily download, along with details about required attribution.

You may not republish any of the other stories at Storyberries. Why not share a link to the story instead? This will enable us to continue making more free books for you and other children all around the world!

5. I would like to adapt a Storyberries story for a different medium (eg a play, an animation, or a movie). Can I do this?

Please write to us at permissions @ storyberries.com so we can discuss your specific project in detail.

6. I would like to read a Storyberries story in a public place, for example, at a school concert, in a church, in a zoom meeting or in a private online learning class. Can I do this?

Yes, you are able to read most stories at Storyberries in a public place (without text or illustrations), so long as you include attribution to the author and Storyberries in your program notes, along with a link to the original story at Storyberries.

7. I would like to sell Storyberries stories, or use Storyberries stories in my app. Can I do this?

No, the stories at Storyberries may not be republished and sold by third parties.

8. I would like to translate a Storyberries story into my language, and republish the translation. Can I do this?

You are able to translate and republish books by Book Dash and Storyweaver only. These books are published under a Creative Commons license, and you are able to use their stories and illustrations with attribution.

In particular, the Storyweaver website has a wonderful online engine where you can translate the works directly in their library, and many of its books are already translated into many languages by the book-loving community. We would encourage you to visit their website and see if it’s already been translated!

9. I would like to print a Storyberries story to share with my class or friends. Can I get a copy?

As before, Book Dash and Storyweaver offer printable versions of all their books, which may be found at their websites.

For all other stories found at Storyberries, we do not yet offer printable versions of our stories, but in certain circumstances may be able to offer a printable copy of a story to educational and not-for-profit bodies. Please contact us at permissions @ storyberries.com for more information.

10. I really love a book at Storyberries. How can I support the author?

Many of our contributors are children’s authors who would love you to support their other work! Please follow the links at the end of each story which will take you to their website and/or bookshop.
