‘It’s not my fault,” I tried to say,

“I told her she should go away.”

That’s what I said that fateful day

When an elephant followed me home.

My mom was really, really mad

And, of course, so was my dad.

They both said it was really bad

That an elephant followed me home.

But I was not to blame—no, no!

I swear I told her she should go.

I was quite clear. But, even so,

An elephant followed me home.

I wonder if you people know

What it would take to make her go?

If you do, please tell me so,

Cuz that elephant who followed me home?

.

.

.

.

She’s still here.
